An interest in pattern and papercuts informed Heather’s early work that was part of the Dahlhaus Studio brand. A complex glazing method whereby hand-cut stencils were applied to bisqueware, Heather would glaze and then use wax resist to outline the patterns she created on pots. Once the stencils were removed, the inlay glazes were painted on the bare clay parts of the pots. Her interest in colour, mid-century design, pattern, composition and graphic design informed this series over many years.
